AFRICANIZED BEE

Africanized Bee Africanized Bees are golden-yellow in color with darker bands of brown. They have six legs and an oval shape and look very similar to a regular honeybee except their wings measurements are different. These bees defend their colony and attack when threatened. These bees have small colonies and have been known to build nests in tires, crates, boxes and empty cars.



ARGENTINE ANT

Argentine AntArgentine ants are dark brown to black in color and have a shiny texture. They have six legs and a segmented, oval shape. Argentine ants deposit trails continuously, instead of just from nest to food source. They prefer to eat sweets but will eat almost anything including meats, eggs, oils and fats. Argentine ant colonies are located in wet environments near a food source.


BLACK WIDOW SPIDER
Black widow spiders are black in color with the characteristic red hourglass shape on the back. They have eight legs and have a round shape. Black widow spiders spin webs near the ground and often build webs in protected areas, such as boxes or firewood. They are also found under eaves and other undisturbed areas. The venom of a black widow spider is a neurotoxin and can cause severe pain.


EARWIG
Earwigs are dark brown in color and have six legs with a long and narrow body shape. Earwigs hide during the day and feed on leaves, flowers, fruits, mold and insects at night. These insects live together outdoors in large numbers and gain entry to a structure through exterior cracks.


CRICKET
Field crickets are black, brown or reddish in color and feed on organic matter. They are most active in the spring and beginning of summer. The males make a loud chirping sound. Field crickets prefer to live outdoors but can move inside through exterior openings or cracks.





FLEAS
Fleas are dark-reddish brown in color with six legs and are 1/12-1/6 in. in length. This parasite feeds on the blood of warm-blooded hosts and can transfer diseases. Flea bites typically cause very painful, itchy red bumps.




TICKS

The American dog tick or wood tick carries bacteria that can cause several diseases. Adult ticks usually infest larger mammals and feed on warm-blooded
hosts.






COCKROACHES

GERMAN COCKROACH
German cockroaches are tan to light brown in color with two dark streaks running from the head to the base of the wings. German cockroaches are nocturnal and feed on starch, sugary foods, grease and meats and are often found in kitchen cabinets and bathrooms.




ORIENTAL COCKROACH
Oriental cockroaches are dark brown (almost black) in color with six legs and 1" in size. This cockroach prefers cooler temperatures and wet conditions and are often found in sewer pipes and drains. Cockroaches carry diseases, worms and other pathogens.


RODENTS
HOUSE MICE
House mice are light brown to black in color and 2" in size. House mice breed throughout the year and multiply rapidly. They typically live in structures but can also live outside. Mouse urine can cause allergies in children and can also bring unwanted pests, such as fleas, ticks, mite and lice into your home.




NORWAY RAT
Norway rats are gray, brown or black in color and about 12" long, including the tail. This species of rat lives in fields, farm lands and structures and can enter a home through an opening as small as a quarter. Rats carry and spread many diseases.





ROOF RAT
Roof rats are black in color and about 16" in total length, including the tail. They are usually found in the upper part of structures but can also be found in other locations of a building. Rats contain many parasites and urinate on food. They cause damage by chewing on materials and eating stored food.
